WHY DO WE NEED TO USE ENGLISH-BASED WORDS WHILE SPEAKING TURKISH ?
Language is the way of communication
among human. There are approximately
10000 languages over the world according to an investigation of UNESCO reported
in 1997. English
is the second most frequent language after Chinese in the world. 330 million
people speak English. This extensive use of English make it a universal
language. It is already taught in every European and Asian country and also in
Africa. The remaining parts of the world is almost native speakers. Due to this
universal position it affects all languages. There are many English based words
in all other languages. Turkish also has words with English origin. Certainly its
rich word reservoir is another important reason for this situation. There are
400.000 words in English while there are only 111.000 words in Turkish. So some necessary terms and expressions for the
daily life are imported from English.
